The starting-points for the spatial planning in the municipality of Piran

In the autumn of 2007, Hosting Consulting received an order from the municipality of Piran for making a professional groundwork for the municipal spatial plan, which is in the proceedings and will most likely be accepted by the end of 2008. The professional groundwork refers to the realm of tourism, which is the key economic branch in the municipality; therefore the task was tackled with great attentiveness. The project was divided into three stages: the stage of analysis, the stage of reconciliation and the stage of shaping the professional groundwork.

In the stage of analysis, we processed the important documents, which were written in the last couple of years and which discussed the topic of spatial and tourism development. Next, an analysis of the situation was formed and, in the end, the results were presented. In addition, we summarised the trends of the tourism development and the guidelines, originating in national developmental strategies.

This was followed by a public discussion together with the protagonists of Piran’s tourism, where we defined the key guidelines of tourist development, which influence the spatial planning and are related to it.

The document, written after such an extensive and professional discussion, presents a groundwork of great quality, offering an excellent foundation to the planners of spatial solutions.
